Parameter Generation & Control is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and we couldn’t have reached this milestone without the hard work and dedication of our distributors. They make it possible for our products to be sold in more than 50 countries and they serve as the “face” of Parameter in their markets. As a way of saying “thank you” to them, we’d like to introduce you to these valued partners in the next few months.
Our first Distributor Spotlight is on David Barber of Parameter Generation Europe Ltd. David has represented Parameter in Europe for the past five years, and his son, Paul, joined him in the business two years ago. They are located about 20 miles north of London in Albany Chambers in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.
David has worked with the pharmaceutical industry for the last 12 years and has been in engineering sales for more than 40 years. Prior to joining his father at Parameter, Paul worked in biological storage services. The Barbers expect to double their team to four in 2018 with the addition of a sales engineer and an administrator.
David and Paul work with a network of specialist engineering contractors across the UK, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland to provide installation and maintenance services throughout Western Europe. Some of those colleagues include Air Cool Engineering of Herefordshire, Frescold Services of Waterford, Whiriskey Refrigeration of Galway, Davidson Hardy Laboratories of Belfast, and BMC Eirco of Cork.
According to David, the pharmaceutical industry in Ireland is their largest market, and they provide stability storage solutions for both manufacturers and companies that offer such services. But their customer base extends well beyond pharma. David says, “We also have ongoing projects for companies involved in the production and testing of poly composite materials, cigarette and vape testing equipment, medical device testing, and even a pair of insect propagation laboratories for a highly respected university in London.” In the past four years, they have supplied customers with 34 walk-in rooms and 12 reach-in chambers.
The 400-800 CFM conditioners in both horizontal and vertical configurations are their top selling products right now, while initially that distinction went to the 9324 Series 250-400 CFM horizontal conditioner.
David has tracked some trends over the years. “It seems that most often when we are supplying a company that provides storage services, they go with the horizontal conditioner up on the roof of their room to maximize the use of floor space,” he says, “whereas most of the testing/laboratory/bespoke applications folks like to have the vertical units, which are easier to interact with and maintain.”
Big things are ahead for Parameter in Europe. “Current projects are very bright with active projects for 16 walk-in rooms expected to materialize in the next six months,” David says. “We are currently planning expansion into validation services.”
Thank you, David Barber, for representing Parameter so well.
